Kingston, Jamaica (June 24, 2022): –
On Sunday, June 26, 2022, we cordially invite members of the media to cover the opening day and ceremony of the Kingston Biennial 2022: Pressure, in association with the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment & Sport. The exhibit will feature artworks by 24 local and diaspora artists at the National Gallery of Jamaica.
The Biennial exhibition will form part of the Jamaica 60th Diamond Jubilee and is a celebration of the Jamaican idiom, “pressure,” and the positive and negative ways in which it has shaped Jamaican society.
On this date (Sunday, June 26th), the National Gallery of Jamaica will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and proceedings will include a formal opening ceremony at 2:00 p.m. with keynote speech by The Hon. Olivia “Babsy” Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment & Sport and presentation by Professor David Scott, Lead Curator, Kingston Biennial 2022.
As there will be supervised access to the National Gallery to ensure that fire, health and safety regulations are observed, we request that members of the media confirm their attendance in advance as well as present valid company ID at the designated security checkpoint on Sunday.
