This August the National Gallery of Jamaica (NGJ) will be hosting its annual Writivity workshop, from Monday August 12 to Friday August 16, 2024 from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
Initiated in 2015, the Writivity programme was developed to assist Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Visual Arts students, grades 10 and 11 with the research and development of their reflective journals. The journals are an element of the School Based Assessment (SBA) submissions for CSEC Visual Arts, contributing to the final grades.
The five-day workshop will engage students in a combination of theoretical and practical exercises, utilising the NGJ’s exhibition spaces and research materials, and providing them with a deeper understanding of how to view, analyse and apply research methodologies to art. The workshop will also feature presentations from representatives from the Ministry of Education to aid students in understanding the requirements of their reflective journals and the marking scheme as indicated by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC).
Registration for Writivity is JMD$500 and lunch will be provided for the participants courtesy of Jason Delvaille Gastronomie. All lessons and activities will be held on the NGJ premises, 12 Ocean Boulevard, Kingston Mall (Kingston).
